President Trump’s 2027 budget proposal would cut Department of Health and Human Services funding by more than 12%, reducing the agency’s budget to about $111.1bn and trimming roughly $15.8bn overall. The plan includes a $5bn reduction for the National Institutes of Health, elimination of some research centers, and shutdown of programs serving refugees and low-income communities. It would also fold the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality into a new HHS office while reviving an Administration for a Healthy America focused on chronic disease.
